Background
The Euro Changeover project is an educational website which includes five interactive games and was launched to facilitate the concept of conversion from Lm to Euro for all primary schools. The interactive website incorporating five games:
- Euro Converter/calculator
- Vending Machine
- Jig-saw Puzzle
- Memory Game
- Fly to the Euro Countries
The motivation of the initiative
Changing the monetary system of a country is a big change which can be difficult for children to grasp and the aim was to resolve this issue in an innovative manner.

Aims and targets
Objectives of the initiative
- To train children in the primary sector to convert from Lm to Euro and vice versa.
- To get used to the different Euro coins from different countries.

Pupils in primary schools.
Methods applied to reach the objective (technological and/or pedagogical)
Technological methods have included websites and online games. The pedagogical aspects were integrated through the interactivity of the games. The games are based on current pedagogical principles which involve students in an interactive and constructivist approach which encourages independent learning.

Lessons learnt
Given the high participation rate of students, the department finds that the project was a complete success due to the pedagogical aspects, interactivity, interface and design of the website and games.
